The Automation and Automatics program is the first Engineering program at the VNU-IS. This program was built on the program of the Faculty of Control Systems and Information Technology in Industry of the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI). The knowledge in the first three years is designed to be similar to the MAI program. This gives students the opportunity to gain MAI credit and transfer to study and earn a degree at MAI.
At the stage of learning industry knowledge, students can choose to follow one of two specialized orientations: (1) Automation and (2) Informatics. With the orientation of Automation, students will be equipped with in-depth knowledge as well as professional practice in the field of Automation to be able to meet job requirements upon graduation. With the Informatics orientation, students will be equipped with additional knowledge and skills in programming, algorithms, data as well as knowledge related to data science and artificial intelligence to ensure students can work in information technology enterprises and have special advantages when developing and deploying information systems in the industry.

Lecturers in the Bachelor of AAI program are selected from a range of well-known teachers in and outside of VNU-Hanoi. Holding a master’s degree or higher, they are trained in high-quality education countries like the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, etc. Not only are all lecturers qualified to teach subjects in English, but they also have in-depth knowledge and practical experience in their own field. In addition, the lecturer’s exchange scheme in the faculty also brings in a great number of foreign lecturers to co-teach some modules in the program. The rate of foreign lecturers participating in the program accounts for about 20% of the specialized professional modules. Local and foreign teachers collaborate well together to create a healthy community and an international education environment in the Faculty.

The Scholars recruitment program of VNU-IS Hanoi is developed with the aim of promoting the experience, capability, intellectual property of scholars working in renowned universities, scientific research centers all over the world, to contribute to Vietnam’s socio-economic development. The program enhances the international integration index of VNU in general and the International School in particular, helping to create motivation, enabling training and international research environment, building capacity for faculty staff, smooth application of advanced teaching and research technology transfer, university governance, increasing number of foreign teachers in the faculty.

The scholars under this program are teaching either full-time, part-time, or selected modules along with the other faculty members for all the courses offered in the International School. Lecturers of the VNU-IS are encouraged to participate in preparing lectures, teaching and guiding students. During this process, students and VNU-IS members are exposed to new approaches and working styles at prestigious institutions abroad.

To optimize this activity’s objectives, scholars of the program will be given priority in teaching new subjects or subjects requiring regular teaching method updates, or the modules where there’s a shortage of qualified lecturers.

In addition, the VNU-IS has been building a core group of trainers for the AAI, along with the contracted visiting lecturers who are experienced in teaching and scientific research at well-known training providers and big enterprises.
  1. Meet ONE of the following criteria:
  • Graduate from high school with a minimum high school GPA of 2.5/4.0
  • Acquire International Baccalaureate Diploma of 24/45 with Math and English language score of at least 5/7 for each subject.
  • Complete A-Level grade C, equivalent to 60/100 each subject.  The combination of subjects required varies among programs.
  • Acquire SAT score of 1100/1600
  • Acquire ACT score of 22/36
  1. Appropriate English proficiency certificate including a minimum IELTS score of 5.5 or Level 4 of Vietnamese Standardized Test of English Proficiency (VSTEP)*
  2. Appropriate medical examination report for overseas study 
  3. Sufficient finance evidence for overseas study in Vietnam.
The estimated total tuition fee for the whole course is 257,600,000 VND (equivalent to 11,200 USD/course).
– The tuition fee will not change for the entire course if students study according to the training plan of the Faculty. Students pay tuition fees by semester, based on the number of credits/modules registered in each semester;
– The above tuition fee does not include the tuition fee for the Preparatory English Program, the fee for re-testing, re-studying, studying to improve grades, etc. in case the student cannot ensure the progress and quality of the training program. ;
– Students pay tuition fees in Vietnamese Dong, based on the number of credits/modules registered in each semester. The converted tuition rate is adjusted according to the exchange rate listed by Vietcombank at the time of tuition fee collection notice.

After graduation, students have the professional qualifications and capabilities to take on the following positions:

– Research specialist, participate in policymaking, project development on hardware and software, automatic control;
– Analyst and designer of hardware and software systems;
– Analyst of optimization solutions in products and services;
– Analyst and improve product and service quality
– Participating in teaching and research activities at domestic and foreign training institutions and research institutes in the field of automation and information technology;
– Planning, implementing and managing the activities of automatic control systems, independent information systems of their own.

Students are offered various opportunities to transfer to prestigious foreign universities in order to complete the program among which are Missouri State University (US), Heriot-Watt University (UK), Chienkuo Technology University (TW), University of Canberra (AUS),Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI).
